Energy Ventures Analysis (EVA) today published a report analyzing the current status of U.S. LNG exports. The report goes beyond the increasingly well-understood first wave of U.S. LNG projects and evaluates the potential timing and magnitude of a second phase of projects likely to be sanctioned over the next few years. More specifically, it offers EVA’s view on the strategies employed by different types of project developers, including a new breed of LNG pure plays looking to capitalize on the unique value proposition of U.S. LNG. While it is difficult to predict which U.S. projects will ultimately move forward, EVA projects more than 50 MMTPA (6.7 BCFD) of export capacity to come online between 2023-2028, at which point the U.S. will overtake Qatar and Australia and become the world’s largest LNG exporter.
